We have arranged a very special experience in a historic, remodeled tea house in Gion where you will be able to spend an afternoon with an authentic maiko. This is a truly rare opportunity to not only see a maiko dance in person, but to play traditional ozashiki games, and take photos together.
A maiko will perform a charming and elegant dance for you while dressed in an exquisite kimono. These dances can only be performed by those who have trained diligently to perfect this traditional art.
You will also be able to try your hand hat "ozashiki asobi". Ozashiki asobi are games that have been enjoyed in Japan since the days of old. There are penalties for losing against the maiko, so do your best. At our experience, we will play a rhythmical game set to music called Konpira Funefune.
We also will prepare traditional Kyoto sweets and matcha green tea for our guests. While enjoying these delights you'll be able to spend special time with a maiko which will surely become a precious memory.
You will also be able to freely take photographs with the maiko. Of course, photographs and video are also allowed anytime during the dance and game portions of the afternoon as well.
